Child again!

“Every child is interested in music and art. It's what makes us human,” said Nicolas Altstaedt in one of his recent interviews*. The charismatic cello virtuoso is dead right, and he surely is the one to know! He is one of the most interesting and sought for musicians of today, he performs with greatest conductors and in most prestigious concert halls all over the globe, he is adored by concert-goers and praised by critics. He was chosen by no less than Gidon Kremer to become the new Artistic Leader of the renowned Lockenhaus Chamber Music Festival as well as asked by Adam Fischer to follow in his footsteps as Artistic Director of the Haydn Philharmonie! All that in his early thirties, which in the classical music world almost read as – a child!

So make sure you note September 6th, 7th and 9th (the dates of his Festival Maribor concerts) in your calendar.  Mesmerizing sounds which he coaxes from his 1760 Giulio Cesare Gigli are a golden ticket back to our childhood years, when our minds were still full of imagination, and our hearts still pure and wide open to whatever fantastic world music would take us. And Mahler’s Fourth Symphony, which he will conduct, brings nothing less than “heavenly life“!
