Hey, have you had it with grownups always telling you to sit still and be quiet? Wouldn’t you rather just hum to the rhythm, drum on your knees and dance to the music? Perfect! This year the Maribor Festival is especially accessible to children and young people.

The festival offers a broad range of events in a special program context where the active enjoyment (and even participation) of children, families and young people is highly encouraged. There will be music workshops where children can get to know various instruments better, guided by experienced musicians from the Maribor Conservatory of Music and Ballet – then actually build them and try them out with the help of friendly mentors from the MARS Institute (September 12-16).

For the truly youngest members of our audience there will even be a special concert for babies where crawling, laughing and exclamations of joy are all allowed! Babies (and their parents) will be able to listen to music of Mozart, perhaps for the first time in their lives, performed at the piano by Adriana Magdovski (September 10).

For the young at heart and older children we also offer two other events:

If you are still charmed by magic, then the presentation “Mozart’s Magic Flute” is surely for you. The unique show offers a mix of music, musical sketches and magic in an audience-interactive performance by the delightful English group The Classic Buskers (September 12).

For fans of film music,  we highly recommend the closing concert of the Festival's offerings for children featuring the accordion orchestra of Maribor Conservatory presenting music from animated films (September 17).

So don’t be embarrassed, don’t put it off any longer! Come and enjoy excellent music with the whole family!
