Festival Maribor Countdown: 34 more days to go

02.08.2013

Since their last year's remarkable premiere performance of The Magic Flute, it has become quite a challenge to acquire an entrance ticket for any performance at the most daring of Berlin Operas, the Comic Opera Berlin. With this performance in the style of silent films by Buster Keaton, the new director and producer Barrie Kosky reached the Parnassus of great opera producers. Despite the fact that the number of in-house performances has increased greatly since his arrival, we succeded to organise guest performances and a coproduction between the Orchestra of the Comic Opera Berlin and the Festival Maribor.

We shall witness a splendid orchestra – which resides in one of the most dynamic European capitals – in four concerts and many different settings. They are going to present themselves under the direction of their chief conductor Henrik Nánási, under the renowned conductor of film music Frank Strobel and as a chamber ensemble under the guidance of the head violin Gabriel Adorján.

With Berlin musicians coming to Maribor, their faithful audience is bound to follow; whereas our own Slovenian audience has gotten the taste of the coming guest performances with our young Papagena and Papageno – Nika Gorič and Georg Klimbacher – in the streets of Maribor.
